Bill McSadden |
Leadership:
Mr. McSpadden assists and advises clients and lectures in the U.S. and internationally on topics relating to manufacturing
operations control systems. He is recognized as a worldwide authority on the current and future directions of enterprise management
systems. He served as the Manufacturing Editor for Systems User Magazine for four years and then held the same position at
MIS Week for two years. He has published thousands of articles and strategic analysis reports on products, companies, and
technology in the field of manufacturing, logistics, financial, and enterprise-level systems. Bill also is on the board of
directors for IMTI (Interactive Manufacturing Technology Initiative), a consortium of leading U.S. companies such as P&G,
Boeing, GE, and others.
Bill started the Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) service for Gartner
Group under Gideon Gartner's reign in 1984. Bill helped build the service into a strong technology applications based program.
In 1988, Bill purchased IDC’s CIM service and launched it under the Plant-Wide Research name. Bill combined the IDC
research model with the Gartner analytical model and switched from mass services circulation model to a custom, highly independent manufacturing solutions
business consultation model.
Today, PWR works with the likes of the prestigious Integrated Manufacturing Technology Initiative (IMTI)
a non-profit consortium of industry, government and academia that is working to help enterprises be more competitive by putting
on advanced workshops, publishing practical advanced technology roadmaps, and helping literally hundreds of companies and
thousands of participants adopt competitive methods and programs.
Prior to Gartner and PWR, Bill developed an extensive,
in-depth background in manufacturing management and held positions with international firms such as the Ford Motor Company,
International Silver Company, Wang Laboratories, Itek, and General Dynamics. Mr. McSpadden holds a BS in
Industrial Education and an MBA in Industrial Management from the University of Maryland.
